About Hanson Beef
Our Story
Hanson Beef is a family owned and operated Nebraska ranch providing the highest quality, premium beef. All of our beef was born and raised on our land. We have been raising beef for over 5 generations and the sixth is just getting started. We came to southwest Nebraska in 1885 and homesteaded our current location in 1899.
Our Herd
Our herd is raised entirely on our ranch and farm. It is made up of Angus mother cows. They spend spring and summer on the grass on the ranch in the Sandhills. The cows go to the farm in the fall and winter to graze on cornstalks. We use DNA testing to help in selection of our replacement heifers to be sure we are putting the preferred genetics, including marbling and tenderness into our cow herd.
Beef Production
We farm in southwest Nebraska growing corn, wheat, and soybeans. We grow our feed on our farm. We do this so we can control the quality of feed our animals consume. A nutritionist is used to help us to formulate rations that are the great for the animals and help to maximize the quality of the meat.
Our Beef
Our beef is of the highest quality. The animals have never been given any growth hormones or steroids. It is aged for 21 days before it is cut. We offer different options to purchase the meat. You can purchase in large increments such as whole animal, 1/2 animal or 1/4 animal. Individual cuts, hamburger and beef bundles are also available. We can ship all over the United States.
Nebraska Sandhills
Our ranch is located in the Sandhills of Nebraska. The Nebraska Sandhills, which encompass approximately 19,300 square miles of sand dunes stretching 265 miles across Nebraska, containing 12.75 million acres of rangeland. Many of the valleys contain lakes and/or wet meadows that are supplied water by the Ogallala aquifer that holds an estimated 700-800 million acre-feet of water
